Special Ingredients in a Fig Mojito

Figs
Figs are a special tree fruit that comes in many varieties. The colors and flavors of the figs range within those varieties. Choosing the right figs can be tricky . Once you understand a little more about this small fruit, you are able to spot a perfect fig every time!
The season may dictate which figs are available to you, their harvesting season is from mid-June to mid-October. Figs have a short lifespan after harvest. Consume within ten days of picking. Be careful to keep your figs cool until ready to use to help them hold their freshness. I freeze mine or turn them into jam.
The best indicators of a fig’s ripeness are its feel and its smell. A good fig will smell fresh and sweet, but a bad fig will smell funny and squish easily. A ripened fig will have soft, but not mushy, flesh and clean unbruised skin.
Mint Leaves
Fresh, sweet, and fragrant mint is the cornerstone of any mojito recipe. Mint brings both sweetness and menthol to the flavor and aroma of this excellent mocktail. The best mint for this drink is spearmint. It has large, bright green leaves, and an unmistakable aroma.
This sensational herb is available in stores all year round, but it makes a wonderful herb to add to your kitchen garden. It is super easy to grow and adds a nice fragrance to the whole area. Plus, when you grow mint you’re only one snip away from being ready for sweet mojitos!
Lime Juice
Lime and mint are great friends. They complement each other in surprising ways. The zestiness of the lime works to bring out the sweet mint flavor. Freshly squeezed lime juice is the best option to keep the flavors fresh in this mojito, but bottled lime juice will work as well.
Non-Alcoholic Rum
The rum flavor is part of this quintessential drink; luckily, there are plenty of options for non-alcoholic rum. A clear or silver rum is what this Fig Mojito calls for. My favorite option for non-alcoholic silver rum is Lyre’s White Cane Spirit.
Simple Syrup
To keep true to the fig flavor of the fizzy drink, use brown sugar simple syrup as a sweetener. It’s a great sweetener with all the rich flavors of figs. This ingredient can be found in stores and online, and it is also very easy to make at home.
Also, you can make a basic simple syrup but add figs to the simmering liquid, then strain before using it to create a fig-flavored sweetener. You will not need sugar if you are using this syrup. I prefer the syrup as it is easier to stir into the mocktail.
Ice
To keep everything nice and chill!
Club Soda
Wonderfully versatile club soda brings the fizz to this drink! Any brand will do so choose your favorite. If you are not a fan of club soda then you can use sparkling water.

Supplies Required for Fig Mojito
The Fig Mojito is easy to make with the right tools. I recommend using a cocktail muddler for the mint and a jigger for measuring. If you’re using fresh lime, a citrus reamer comes in handy! This drink looks beautiful in any glass, but I used a highball glass.
How to Garnish Fig Mojito
The garnish for this drink is good enough to eat because you can! Garnish the finished mojito with a few sliced figs and a few mint leaves.
When to Enjoy This Mocktail
This beautifully zero-alcohol drink is great at any time of day, but it is designed to refresh! Enjoy this on a hot afternoon or when you’re feeling tense and watch your worries blow away with a cool minty breeze!
Can this be Made in Advance?
This drink does not work as a premix. The fig mojito is all about freshness and fizz, so it is best made and then promptly served. One great thing about this mocktail is how fun it is to make. Turn the party’s attention to the bar and show off your best muddling dance moves. Everyone will be impressed with the fizzy finish!
